Yavarum nalam? Are you sure though?

A movie review on Yavarum Nalam, by MathiRaj

Horror movies are hitting different when it is watched in the perfect setting. I love it mainly when I am all alone in the house, with the lights switched off, with earphones plugged in, during late-night. But the most important thing that differentiates the experience is the richness of the film. One such well-planned film is the 2009 release Yavarum Nalam, directed by Vikram Kumar. This horror-thriller stars Madhavan, Neetu Chandra, Sachin Khedekar in major roles. The movie did not have cliché jump-scares featuring gory makeup or creepy graphics, but the fear factor was all about the background music and performance of the artists. The movie was never boring, it got me more and more engaged as the plot slowly progressed, every second was intense towards the climax! The story deals with Manohar, (Madhavan) an employed civil engineer who moves in with his family into a new apartment. Since day one, something about their new house was mot right. All the ladies in the house being TV series addicts, get addicted to a new series called “Yavarum Nalam”. The series and their personal life tend to have an uncanny congruent relationship, such that the plot of the series is what happens in their everyday life. Everything was fine until Manohar comes to know a mind-blowing truth, and this is where I got pushed to the edge of my seat for the rest of the film. This film has been made even in Hindi, titled ‘13B: Fear Has a New Address’ so make sure to go check it out in whichever language you are comfortable guys! I recommend this film for all the Horror film fans as well as Psychological horror film fans, and of course to the thriller film fans.
