An article based off of Rajmohan reports, by MathiRaj
Almost all of us must be knowing about this issue which had taken place around ten days back in Sathankulam, a father and son were beaten up to death in the most gruesome ways by police officers in a police station. Yes, this article is about the most inhuman act of police brutality that costed the lives of Mr Jeyaraj and Mr Fenix. This issue currently is being spoken world wide and has got global attention as it is very similar to that of police brutality that had happened to Mr George Floyd.
It was stated that the father and son who were owners of a cellphone store had their shops opened past the curfew time of the COVID-19 lockdown, and hence were taken into custody by the police for the interrogation. Some evidences say that they did not even violate any curfew.
Okay, every argument has two sides, so upon listening to the statements from the police officers' side, they seemed to state that Mr Jeyaraj and Mr Fenix attempted to murder the officers. Seriously?! you are telling us that a fifty-nine year old man along with his son tried to kill the entire force of police officers in the police station? What are we discussing here? Tollywood fight scenes?
Considering that the police officers' statement to be true, Where are the officers who were "attacked" taking treatment from? Who was the doctor who treated them? Where are their medical reports?
Upon asking about the fatal injuries on the victims' body, the police officers have stated that "Jeyaraj and Fenix fell down during the attempt to murder.". So you are trying to say that falling down caused their fleshes to rip and cause extreme blood flow and they died?
I wonder what reason they might state for the bunches of chest hair plucked from the victims' chest region. Looking at all this, it is clearly evident that the officers involved have extreme mental disorders and are mentally ill. For such people, is job based action the solution?
If the higher authorities had filed dual murder cases on these kind of barbaric psychopaths and taken strong actions against them, the people's faith and respect on the police force would have been restored! While everyone is planning to host a post-corona celebration of respect and gratitude for the police force, them ignoring these kind of inhumane acts really makes us to reconsider respecting them in the first place. All we are asking is, why not file a charge sheet on the concerned officers for human rights violation and dual murder, give them a strong sentence, there you go! the name and respect lost is now earned back! If that is done, it will not be a huge example not just for India, but for the whole world, even for the most glorified western nations.
Next is, in this modern day where we are asking for CCTV cameras in almost everywhere except restrooms, why was there no CCTV cameras in one of the most important places which is a police station?
Enough of stating the problems, as of Mr Rajmohan's awareness video, it was stated that there is a website called "myindianrights.com" through which one can know their rights, know about the number of lawers who would argue for them without any fee, how you can avail help, all sorts of information will be available there.
As of individuals, we all know how the '#Blacklivesmatter' went viral, now let us use '#JusticeforJeyarajandFenix' to state not just about this unfortunate event, but to bring awareness, and more so to confess to the world about how each one of us gets abused by any government servant, because once one gets exposed after comitting a crime, he/she will fear for dear life the next time he/she thinks of committing it.
I want to conclude this article stating the same words that the father of our nation stated, "I object violence because when it appears to do good, the good is temporary; the evil it does is permanant"
Your powerful rhetorics brought out the truth about the inhumane act in a very apt manner! These issues have to be brought to the forefront. Thanks once again for highlighting the trivial facts associated with this issue that has an unprecedented impact on our society as a whole.
Well thought out and comprehensive article. This is not a herd approach. Rightly you had mentioned the recent large good work done by police on COVID19, but slurred by such event. Besides analysis of the event based on facts and highlighting the gaps on police side and demanding right action against the culprit, you have suggested practical solution by way of CCTVs in prison/cells to bringin the restraint in future. Ending the article with the quotes of Mahatma Gandhi has been very apt..
