My Angel With Paws

It takes a second to see the sparkle in their eyes, eyes in which love and truth lies. Their Little paws never despise, however, paws come with claws. These adorable creatures lick profusely and love abundantly. Every moment with them is a free trip to paradise, undoubtedly they are the angels in disguise.

On a Sunday evening, dated 9th march 2008, my dad went to meet one of his friends who was a dog lover. Around 2 months earlier to my dad's visit, one of the dogs had given birth to a baby German Shepherd in his factory and he was given the puppy! He kept that little loving paws inside a carton box partially let open and brought it in the car. He let my mom open the box. That dainty head looked up at her and the next minute it stepped out to garnish the ground. The Paws puked, car ride must've upset its stomach. My annoyed mother who is a cat lover told my dad to drop it right where he took it from. Somehow he didn't have the time to travel so far. That cute creature was tied out but within our gates. Mosquitoes had a treat when we had tied it out. My mom, she is a mother, after all, she brought it to a powder room which became his temporary kennel. The next minute it pooped in the powder room. My mom cleaned it complaining. Little paws got the hang of it, it began to jump, lick, play and eventually won all of our hearts. My dad named her Jemy !

Jemy was extremely loving and caring. She knows just right how to deal with people, as time went by she expertised at reading our facial expressions and danced accordingly. I go for horse rides on her! I was too young, at times even if I stamp her tail she would still slightly squeak but never bite. She is very protective, no dogs pass our gates. On our empty ground where we had tied net for volleyball, Jemy would take part. She was amazing at football. She has always been an active participant no matter what we play. Once she grasps the ball it is close to impossible to get it from her. She hated balloons that blasted when she sinks her teeth in but she loved bubbles, my perfect companion!

She blows her own trumpet, marking her presence as the guardian. Once, during that process, little Jemy chased a dog outside our gates and ran and ran and got stuck midst of a pack. She was bitten badly and bled, my dad, rushed to carry her back home. That's okay, she'll always be our little guardian despite her unnecessary showoff.

The ground is usually made wet before we play, we had pipes that spew water and Jemy out of nowhere puts on her heroine hat! She ll jump, twirl, and grab all our attention, the excitement is unending. When the calendar hits the bath day for Jemy all of us get equally thrilled. She loves it when we put soap and give her nice massage she'll willingly turn around as if telling us to scrub here and there. We lose control when water splashes, Jemy would jump and lick us and in the end all of us will have soap on and water dripping.

Every morning my dad plays some melody to meditate and guess who accompanied him. Jemy , listening to the melody she'll nod and eventually doze off, good company, isn't she?

My brilliant 4 legged paw knows to crack her own eggs when she is hungry. We leave the eggs next to her tray and that's it, she'll take care. Glad she probably had a tinge of OCD. However, she can never part from her mother's blood, she digs the ground and I've always wondered what satisfaction she gets. Pits probably have to be her signature

Jemy loves beef! My mom will pinch her nose to buy beef, she'll clean it, cook it and Jemy will relish every bit of it! She can sense our emotions. The moment we get yelled at by our mom, Jemy comes for rescue, she'll continue to bark until my mom stops. That's very helpful of her, saving us (my sister and I ) for our atrocities.

She doesn't listen to any of us but my dad has great control over her. She senses the slightest difference in his tone and locks herself inside her kennel, her survival instincts are out of the world ! Especially her looks, expression queen, the way she looks at us when she is told off, her eyebrows make the perfect sad curve and her eyes would twinkle telling sorry, right now I think I should've run around with a signboard telling 'Trap! Trap ! ', all of us slip right in and she finds her way out!

Ever time the doc came home Jemy would run the unending race and we chase her, to catch her becomes extremely exhausting. The second she smells the vet she' ll vanish! We get torn apart by the time she has her medicines and gets her vaccinations done.

She was sick over a month, my mom rushed her to the vet and when she was told that Jemy was no more, she fainted! My dad had to run see my mom and Jemy and it was a very hard time for all of us. This incident was on the 12th of July, 2017. She was just 8 years old and none of us could digest the fact that she left us too early. We found people to perform rituals and she was buried with respect and dignity. Silence filled the air and left us all in despair because a family member was no longer there, yet we continue to cherish all the memorable moments we had with our loving, faithful paw- Jemy.
