Lockdown Lyric

Writer's picture: nirmala anandnirmala anand

WHERE DO I STAND DURING THE COVID-HOLS?!

Things are falling apart

And the centre cannot hold….

Is it breakfast or brunch??!!

Am I watching a matinee?!!

No, I’m actually movie hopping-

Listless… lethargic….drowsy…

One dialogue in Tare Zameen Par

The teacher complains about the student

“Kabhi paani, Kabi susu…Kabhi paani, Kabhi susu”

I smile as I wash the dishes – cook-eat-wash-cook-eat-wash

When will the circle give way in a tangential arch?

But I do have time- time to do what I like

Time to even postpone things, no ticktick lists

A luxury I can’t normally afford!

Where do I stand?

Like Trishanku Maharaj

Somewhere in between

Caught in the bubble of time

That floats to know not where

I know it is a waste of a lot of productive time

Yet the light upper curve of my lips convey

It’s fine.

A nicely penned poem in which each line holds true for every one of us, widens our smile and helps us reflect our reality .... enjoyed reading it mam.
