2020 did not have much of movies released, due to the whole pandemic and panic going on. But this movie that somehow made its way out was worth the watch. Mafia or Mafia: Chapter 1 is a Kollywood crime drama film directed by Karthick Naren and stars Arun Vijay, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Prasanna and Bala Hasan in major roles. The lighting works were well taken care by the light technicians as it truly gave the mood of the film, so much so that I was feeling a bit tipsy at moments. A small noticeable thing was, this movie had way too many English words for a Tamil movie but I'm not complaining about that because it helped give a good portray of the characters. The plot deals with Aryan, (Arun Vijay) a Narcotics officer and Divakar Kumaran or Viper, (Prasanna) a very important cog of the society, whose major source of income is from drug trafficking. Aryan had vowed to make the place a drug free zone with the help of his team, after a tragic event in his life. This breaks out to be a cat and mouse war between Divakar Kumaran and Aryan. Will the cat be the winner? Or is it the mouse who is going to be the winner? But I do recommend this movie for the twist it had in the end, it flipped me upside down!
