What happens in the present cannot be something different in the future. Or can it? Mandel effect has widely been attributed to a number of these occurrences. Mandela effect is a phenomenon where a large group of people’s memory of an event is different from the one in existence. This stems from the occurrence of many people remembering that Nelson Mandela died in prison, but in reality, he died on Dec 5 of 2013. Even a textbook “English Alive”, published on Oct 1 of 1991 says in it that Nelson Mandela died in prison, on Jul 23 of 1991. Kinda confusing huh, let’s get into some other events. Everyone remembers the monopoly man right! Rich Uncle Pennybags, who wore a three piece suit and a monocle. But here’s the deal, in all present articles of monopoly, Pennybags doesn’t have a monocle. But I’m sure a lot of us remember him with one!
Psychologists have repeatedly tried to debunk this effect, but provided vague proof very dependent on human impression and brain plasticity. One of the experiments where they asked a group of people to describe a car crash, to which they used different words. But this can easily be attributed to household slang and neural impressions. And it was also suggested that our brain attributes its data to the memory, for example if you were to see a monkey, your brain would automatically assume it has a tail. But if it was not the case and you don’t consciously recognize the missing tail, your brain attaches the missing tail to the monkey. But various other instances of Mandela effect cannot be explained by this. Anyone in the 21st century wouldn’t imagine a monocle on a money man.
Other vain efforts in debunking include studies on memory creation and retrieval, where they claim that external information provided before or after recalling the memory can alter the memory itself, through assumption of the brain. Even though this Skeleton Theory is true, in a majority of the Mandela Effect cases, it fails to explain the phenomenon.
Many others believe it might be due to time travelers from the future and that UFOs are actually time machines. Some others state that a lot of people could’ve been shifted to a parallel universe, but these claims lack proof and are extremely inconclusive and vague.
As to whether or not the Mandela Effect is real, that’s for you to decide!!!
