Violence, murders, assassination, wars, disruption of peace, crime, these are what comes to our minds when we think about guns isn’t it? Keeping aside all of that, gun shooting can be considered a very good sport. Just like any other sport, gun shooting helps improve discipline, optimism and positive traits in a person. Since the lockdown, I wanted to practice something new and hence, I started target shooting as a new hobby. It had been going on for a couple weeks and I have noticed major improvements on myself. For example, my focus in general had improved, I found self-discipline, I was able to be work efficiently. In fact, whatever mood I was in, after shooting a few rounds, I was able to get my thoughts and mood back to neutral. You may ask, ‘should not you need license to own a gun?’. Sure you do, but those are for firearms. The guns used for recreation or sports are airsoft guns and do not require any license to own according to Indian laws. You can own an air gun (.177 caliber) today, without a license. Air pistols start from around a thousand rupees and air rifles, from eight thousand approximately. At stressful times like this lockdown, I feel gun shooting can be a very ideal hobby to calm and discipline our mind and body under one important condition though, shoot target sheets, not humans or animals. If you didn’t get that already, then this whole article is meaningless. Keeping in mind of the recent uncertain events, I hope it is the right time that we look into and practice this interesting sport. Stay safe! Take care!
