A video game review on Wolfenstein : The new order, by Mathiraj
First person shooters have been one of the most loved genres of video games. In that way, it is hard to miss the Wolfenstein series, it being the father of first person shooters. This game, Wolfenstein : The new order is a 2014 release of the Wolfenstein series, developed by MachineGames and published by Bethesda software. This game is undoubtedly one of the violent video games I have played and I don't complain it, as it was very apt to the story line and the atmosphere of the game. This is more of a World War 2 related military shooter game, set in 1960s, but it felt something like the game was set in 2100s! As we have to fight robots, use extremely modern weapons and even go to the Goddamn Lunar base for a mission. We get to play as Captain William J. Blazkowicz, who heads over to attack the compound of a dreadful Nazi leader, Deathshead, or Totenkopf as he likes to call himself. He captures us and our team and forces us to choose one of two of our teammates on who he performs his cruel tortures and eventually kills them. This choice that the player takes influences the plotline and game play to a marked extent. The following of the game is how we escape Deathshead's compound and find ourselves in an asylum which is run by really friendly folks. One day we get to wake up from our comma and fight the Nazis who try to hurt the caretakers of the Asylum. That is when we realize that we have been in comma for fourteen years and the Nazis have won the great war, nuked USA, took over the entire world, the real game begins there. There are many things I really loved about this game, some of which are, we had a weapon wheel, unlike other first person shooters where we only get to use two weapons. Then, the game itself gave a pretty decent reality check about the cruelty of war. Best of all there is a secret way through which you can access the very first game of the Wolfenstein series, which also is one the first ever first person shooter game to be released, Wolfenstein 3D! Yeah! You get to actually play that. Before I suggest you to play this game, just note that it is super bloody and for sure not meant for the weak hearts. If you are a pro gamer, get down there and slay some of those evil Krauts.
