I started taking photography more seriously a little over two years ago and my life as changed ever since.
So here’s why taking pictures is important in most people’s lives.
Photography is important because it allows people to see the world from different points of view and to admire the most different scenarios and situations captured in a frozen moment. Photography is so powerful that it allows you to bring experiences to others in the form of images and it enables the diffusion of information of things as they really are.
5 Reasons Why Photography is a Great Hobby
1. You Can Start Taking Photos any Moment in Your Life
Photography is a great hobby because it’s a lot of fun, you can start at any age, you are not pressured or challenged by anyone. You can just grab a camera and start shooting, collecting moments and play with various techniques.
2. It’s a Great Hobby Because You Keep Learning
Your level doesn’t really matter. In photography you always keep learning. One day you can learn about composition, the day after you learn about lighting, and then you perfect the use of your camera.
3. You’ll Meet a Lot of People
You’ll make new friends. Photography helps you connecting with likeminded people, you can join photography groups and share your experiences, go out and about taking photos together and challenge each others in a healthy way.
4. Photography Makes You Want to Travel More
Photography makes you explore the world around you and gives you an excuse to go out, to travel more, to learn and experiment. Having new experiences and finding new places to visit with your family and friends.
It’s important because it helps you stay present in the moment and find inspiration to experience locations and moments from different perspectives.
When I picked my first DSLR camera I couldn’t stop dreaming about visiting the world and capturing with my lenses iconic landmarks. And that’s exactly what happened!
5. Photography is a Great Hobby Because it Makes You Capture Moments With Your Loved Ones
You don’t have to go far to take beautiful photos. You can do it at home, capturing meaningful moments with your family and friends. The beauty of photography as a hobby is that it makes you document your life and tell stories of you with your family to remember for long years to come.
What is Photography? Let’s get a bit deeper into the meaning of photography beyond what it represents as a hobby. Photography is a vision, it’s art. Photography is imagination, observation, it’s exploring the world, and experience day to day to life with a camera. Whether you are a professional or an amateur, if you’ve picked up a camera in your hands for the first time or if you are just shooting with your smartphone, you are probably feeling the same way as I do when taking a picture. Photography is a powerful tool to
Tell a story,
Share a moment,
Spread information.
Photography is a creative process and a way to express your idea through images and convey emotions to the viewer. A single blog article is not enough to tell what photography is, probably not even a book. All I can say is that when you take a picture you are performing a powerful action. You are freezing time. You are enabling someone else to enjoy that moment in all the details and you are enabling that moment to be forever.
How Has Photography Changed in Recent Years
Evolutions in technology and the spread of fast Internet connections are the main factors that changed this art form in recent years. Information, day to day life and art are expressed through digital images through the Internet with the simplicity of a click.
It’s easier today than never before to learn how to take photos thanks to online tutorials, dedicated websites like this one, and YouTube. You can learn with your phone from anywhere and anytime. You can even use your phone as a camera.
Digital cameras have become smaller and more accessible to everyone. Internet platforms such as Instagram, 500px, Flickr, and many others, made it possible for photographers to have a window to the world and share their work so easily that today, everyone for bad or good can be a photographer. There are no barriers. No restrictions.
The Importance of Photography in The World
The importance of photography simply lies in the fact that without it, we wouldn’t be able to preserve memories of important moments of our lives and history.
Think for a moment of some of the most influential images ever taken.
These photos are much more than simple pictures. They represent the world, humanity, us. They tell us what we’ve achieved as humanity.
Photos show to all of us the extraordinary abilities we have but they also remember to us the horror that we are able to produce..
Photography Becomes History
Some of these photos become history because they were the first of their genre, others because they help us understand who we are and give us a glimpse of the world and events that we didn’t even know or remember.
The importance of iconic images together with countless others helps us shape our history and form opinions to make better decisions in the future.
Photography can not only tell us about the past but it can also change the future.
Photography is Important as a Form of Art
Photography is important because it’s a form of art.
Like painting, with photos, you can create an image and add your interpretation to it. You can paint with light, you can use software to edit and add your touch to images.
Playing with light and shadows, colors and contrasts, composing images through elements of visual art and harnessing the power of science and digital devices to deliver a representation of the world as YOU, the photographer, see it.
Photos as Medium of Information
News are told through words and photographs. Images are used by journalists to deliver information and document events creating pictures that not only spread material of public interest, but are also pleasant to look at and entertaining.
Photography is a Language
You can be explicit with words, tell stories, write blogs, and send messages in a clear way so that everyone can understand it.
With photographs, you have to create your own language. You have to dig deeper and find a different way to “talk” and express yourself.
Colors, contrasts, different photo compositions are all ways to tell stories with your photos and develop a language that expresses feelings and emotions in a way that sometimes surpasses words.
What is Photography to Me?
To me, photography is important, because it gives me the motivation to share meaningful moments and it gives me the opportunity to challenge myself and learn always new techniques.
Thanks to photography I was able to travel more, stay in nature, spend more time with my family, and stay healthy. It brought me joy and made me a better person. More aware and respectful of the environment and the world around me.

What I Hope I Can Achieve
I hope that with photography I can inspire and motivate people to become explorers of the world, to live every day to the fullest and share meaningful stories with everyone.
Photos are often memories of meaningful moments that often are more valuable to us than anything else.
Preserving those memories is crucial because they allow us to experience again those moments and see things from new perspectives each time. That’s why the important role of photography in our lives is constantly growing and we always find ways to keep our digital photos organized and avoid losing those valuable stories.
