A movie review on Polladhavan, by MathiRaj
Close to real stories about anything, particularly gangsterism is totally amazing and interesting. One such movie is Polladhavan, directed by outstanding director Vetrimaaran. This 2007 release stars Dhanush, Divya Spandana, Kishore, Daniel Balaji in major roles. Just like most of Vetrimaaran’s films, Polladhavan also didn’t fail to amused and keep me engaged. The settings, languages, screenplay, plot and everything was finest and gave the feel of the plot’s atmosphere. The plot deals with Prabhu (Dhanush), a jobless youth who spends most of his time with his friends. He has a mad one-side love on Hema (Divya Spandana). But Prabhu loves bikes more than Hema. He eventually buys his dream bike with his father’s money and also lands in a good job. He also proposes his love to Hema and they both have a sweet love going on. One day when Prabhu drops Hema off at her house after a date, it so happens that the biggest don of that hood, Selvam (Kishore) and his brother Ravi (Daniel Balaji) murders the area counsellor down the same road where Hema’s house was located. Returning back, Prabhu sees that his dream bike was missing, followed by which a series of unfortunate events happen, which influences Prabhu’s life in unimaginable ways. Hence, he sets out to find his bike, clear off all his problems while he also carries the safety of his family and Hema, which is when he ends up in a war between him and Ravi. In this situation, who will win? What happens next? Find out for yourself! I really loved the way the plot showed the real life struggles of a boy from a lower middleclass family. Its a known fact that one faces vulnerability of death and trouble when involved in a gang, but the lesser known fact is that people living in and around areas that incorporate illegal activities also face the same level of vulnerability, this movie expressed that fact very well. Also to Dhanush and Vetrimaaran fans, this movie felt like a 'U' version of the 2018 release Vada Chennai. Do check out the movie guys, it was pretty good!
Yet to check this movie out.Now after reading about it I'll definitely give it a try!
